Responsibilities

  • Attend MDC breast conferences every Tuesday
  • Provide care to post-op breast patients
  • Provide follow up care to breast cancer patients (6 month follow-ups, annual follow-ups with oncologist, and radiation physicians to ensure patients transition appropriately onto survivorship plans)
  • Provide care to high risk patients
  • Assist with genetic testing and counseling
  • See benign breast consults
  • Coordinate Breast tumor board
  • Notify primary care Physician of results
  • Answer patient and family questions especially after diagnosis, during treatment and for survivorship
  • Create survivorship plans with cancer patient’s
  • Ensure proper follow-up for our patients
  • Support and maintain the high risk database with radiology and ensure we are covered from a medico legal standpoint regarding their follow up
  • Genetic counseling and testing support
  • Maintain database for patient care, studies, and medicolegal issues
  • Meet guidelines that are required and submit regarding follow-ups and documentation of XRT, chemo and antiestrogen therapy
  • Ensure patients get the required follow-up with surgery, radiation and medical oncology especially those undergoing neoadjuvant therapy
  • Inform patient about their Oncotype results and ensure proper timing of follow up with radiation and medical oncology
  • Communicate directly with radiology for the patient

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Nurse Practitioner experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner Program, Masters level preferred
  • Must have National Board Certification
  • Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts board of registration 
  • Maintains BLS certification, professional certification as appropriate
  • Knowledge of various software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
